AMIA 2021: November 17-19

November 17-19
Online | Registration Opens Soon

In April and May we surveyed April conference attendees, past conference attendees, and the membership about their plans to attend AMIA and other professional conferences through the end of 2021. 75% of respondees replied that they would not attend or that they were unsure if they would be able to attend. The reasons cited were health and safety concerns, their employers’ institutional budget and travel restrictions, and their personal financial and familial obligations.

AMIA’s Board and Office are also concerned about what protocols and additional costs will be required to ensure a safe return to large in-person events. For these reasons, the Board has unanimously decided that our November 2021 conference will be virtual.

Like our November 2020 conference, we will offer a variety of sessions, keynotes, screenings, social events, and new events that will promote interaction with your colleagues around the world. The Board and Conference Committee are also exploring ways that we could add site-specific, in-person components to our November conference — we all want a chance to see each other again!

Our online events have allowed AMIA members around the world to have the opportunity to take part in our annual conference, many for the first time. We believe this is an opportunity to further explore and foster learning and community building that will continue to thrive once we are back to in-person gatherings.

If you’ve seen things at other conferences that you particularly like (or dislike) please let the conference committee know (program@amiaconference.com)!
