AMIA 2022 COVID Guidelines

We are excited to welcome everyone to AMIA 2022 Pittsburgh!

We are all part of a community and want to ensure the health and well-being of our attendees, partners, and staff during the conference. We recognize that COVID policies differ geographically and institutionally. Our policies align with state and local health orders as well as guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Travel to the Conference
At this time, vaccinations and negative tests are not required to attend AMIA 2022. If you test positive within five days prior to the start of the conference, AMIA will refund your registration fees in line with our cancellation policy.

During the Conference
During the conference, we encourage everyone wear a mask during sessions, and all members of our community are welcome to wear a face covering at any time, for any reason. Please respect individual decisions regarding whether or not to wear a mask when it is optional.

In addition we ask attendees to –

  • Monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 each morning before leaving their hotel
  • Use hand sanitizing stations available throughout the conference space
  • Consider bringing rapid COVID-19 test kits to have on hand
  • Check the bracelet for how your fellow attendees prefer to interact – and if there’s no bracelet, ask if they are social distancing
Everyone is at a different comfort level when interacting with others. Choose a bracelet for at the registration desk to indicate your preference for interacting with fellow attendees –

·         Red – Social Distancing – Greet from Six Feet
·         Yellow – Caution – Elbows Only
·         Green – Handshakes and High Fives

If you have symptoms/test positive during the Conference
Attendees should assess their health prior to leaving your guest room each morning. If you experience symptoms of COVID-19 and/or test positive, we recommend:

  • Isolate. Stay in your hotel room if possible.
  • Notify the hotel that you are isolating in your hotel room. Notify colleagues, if applicable, that they may have been exposed.
  • Adjust your accommodations and travel plans if needed
  • If you test positive for COVID-19 within 10 days of your last day at the conference, please contact AMIA at amia@amianet.org.
