AMIA@30 | Vancouver 2003
Hello and happy #AMIAat30 Monday!
We took a week off in honor of Memorial Day (U.S.), but today we’re looking back again at 2003. At that year’s conference in Vancouver, BC, AMIA honored Marlena Wyman with the Dan & Kathy Leab Award. The Leab Award is given to archivists who have contributed significantly to the field and their institution. In this December 28, 2003 Edmonton Journal article, Wyman, then audiovisual archivist for the Provincial Archives of Canada in Edmonton, AB, describes the Archives’ unique holdings and the fact that in Western Canada they were, at the time, the only place that could handle two-inch video!
Wyman, is an artist, and until very recently, was Historian Laureate for the City of Edmonton. See the article, an image of her and other awardees from 2003, plus other snapshots from the conference.
