Collaborative Notes

The International Outreach, Education and Conference committees are taking steps to make the AMIA conference more accessible to both (1) folks who cannot make it to the conference as well as (2) future on-lookers.

In collaboration with the secretariat, we are doing our best to (1) make as many presenter slides available as possible during and after the conference, (2) live-stream a select number of sessions and (3) provide live notes during the conference.

How can you help?

Some of the steps above are executed marvellously by the AMIA staff. For some aspects – like many of the organisation’s activities – we need a critical mass of support.

We warmly invite you to volunteer for taking Collaborative Notes.

Collaborative Notes

The premise is simple: many of you will be taking notes on your devices anyways. Why not use that power to allow people not present but interested in the topics to consult the information that is shared in panels and presentations?

We set up a Google Drive folder with editable Google Docs for all the conference sessions – organized per stream, or – for the sessions not part of a stream – organized by day. You can find the full folder at bit.ly/amia18collabnotes

When attending a session, and feeling like taking notes, we warmly invite you to take them in these Google Docs for the world to see.

In order to see whether or not a session is already covered by someone, we kindly request you to sign up for the sessions of your choice by adding your name to this sheet.

Are you a speaker?

Many people will be taking notes during your session.  Please encourage them to share them with people not present but interested in the session by contributing to collaborative notes!  Add a slide (or download this one) with the notes URL.

With warm regards,

Erwin Verbruggen, Lorena Ramírez-Lopez, AJ Lawrence (International Outreach Committee Chairs)

Jen O’Leary and Andy Uhrich (Education Committee Chairs)
